Raach am Hochgebirge is a municipality with 302 inhabitants in the district of Neunkirchen in Lower Austria.

The small town is located south of Gloggnitz in the industrial quarter of Lower Austria. The municipal area lies on the border between the large scenic regions of the Bucklige Welt and the Semmering area. The municipality covers an area of 13.25 square kilometers. 70.37 percent of the area is forested.

Nature is the jewel of the community – surrounded by Otter, Sonnwendstein, Semmering, Rax, and Schneeberg, the town is situated at an altitude of 813 meters and offers a wonderful view of the highest mountains in Lower Austria.


In the center of the town itself, there is a popular inn with its own brewery; there is also a regional kindergarten and a seminar center.

The nearest shopping facilities, schools, and offices are sufficiently available in the town of Gloggnitz.


Arrival by car from Graz and Vienna:

via A2 South Motorway to the Seebenstein junction, continue on S6 towards Bruck/Mur to the Gloggnitz exit, after the motorway exit turn left at the second intersection (direction Schlagl, Otterthal), after 100 m turn right, and follow the traffic signs to Raach


By public transport:

Südbahn railway to Gloggnitz, then by Retter bus to Raach
